Job Description

POSITION TITLE: FLOOR MANAGER

DUTY STATION: DAR ES SALAAM

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: BRANCH / GENERAL MANAGER

LINE MANAGER: GENERAL MANAGER

 

I.General Position Summary:

Working with the Branch Manager, Senior Sales Supervisors, Store Merchandiser, and other sales staff, as part of the management team. As floor Manager your responsible for the day-to-day management of the whole shop.  Responsibilities include day to day Sales and Marketing, staffing, scheduling, merchandising, inventory, and price changes.  Floor Manager is also responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the store. A Floor Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the department wisely in order to achieve maximum results.

 

II.Detailed Responsibilities: -

i)        Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified applicants to meet the department’s needs.

ii)      Conduct orientation, train, coach, develop, and manage sales associates in execution of daily tasks.

iii)    Assist in staffing and scheduling of associates, and ensure compliance with payroll budgets.

iv)    Maximize sales and measure sales performance on a daily basis by reference to class sales reports from year prior on same day.  

v)      Oversee and participate in the preparation of merchandise displays and presentations, exercising independent judgment and discretion in applying merchandising concepts and guidelines.

vi)    Maintain adequate inventory to support sales promotions.

vii)  Oversee and participate in the coordination of sales promotion activities, including proper use of in-store signs advertising sales and promotions.

viii)Gather merchandise for transfers, debits/damages, returns-to-vendor (RTV’s), and charge-backs.

ix)    Oversee and participate in department inventories.

x)      Oversee proper pricing of merchandise and ensure all price changes are made.

xi)    Facilitate proper communication between management and associates.

xii)  Communicate with buying and allocation departments about comparative shopping analyses, fast and slow selling classifications and styles, planning and adjusting stock levels, and customer requests.

xiii)Oversee compliance of associates with established Company policies and standards, such as safe keeping of Company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record-keeping procedures.

xiv) Help solve problems that affect the department’s service, efficiency, and productivity.

xv)   Provide and inspire outstanding service to our customers.

xvi) Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

 

III.QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

i)                    Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any related field.

ii)                  Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

iii)                Retail management experience preferred.

iv)                Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.

v)                  Ability to develop and train associates, build relationships, utilize skills of associates most appropriately.

vi)                Ability to manage department operations effectively.

vii)              Ability to merchandise effectively.

viii)            Ability to provide outstanding customer service.

ix)                Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce.

x)                  Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.

xi)                Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide instructions to associates.

xii)              Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
