Job Description

A.            Purpose of the job

Financial Manager is responsible for analysis of every day financial data in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, cost reduction, operational performance and subsequently advise and guide to top management on future financial plans and how to maximize profits.

B.            Responsibilities

1.            Main Responsibilities:

a)            Develop and Implement of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll;

b)            Manages funds in such a manner as to maximize return on investment while minimizing risk, and while also ensuring that an adequate control structure is in place over the transfer and investment of funds;

c)            Responsible for the financial health of the company, producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research;

d)            Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports;

e)            Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures;

f)             Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records;

g)            Reviews statements and reports such as Financial statements and reports, future costs and revenues to inform decision making;

h)            Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems;

i)             Analyse financial performance against key performance indicators and document pertinent financial highlights that will enable management to determine progress against budgets;

j)             Identify, investigate, and analyse potential operational improvement as appropriate, based on findings make proposal for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc) affecting the finance department;

k)            Ensure that the Company meets all the statutory requirements relating to the financial sector;

l)             Supervise employees in the Finance Department and offer leadership and support as would be required;

m)          Develops financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk as well as handle any risks that would appear;

n)            Liaises with the Internal Auditor to ensure annual monitoring is carried out; and

o)            Develop and maintain external relationships with appropriate contacts, eg auditors, bankers and statutory organizations such as the Tanzania Revenue Authority.

C.            Qualification, Knowledge and Skills

4.            Academic Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a relevant field

5.            Professional Qualifications:

CPA Finalist or ACCA Finalist

6.            Technical Competencies:

a)            Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns

b)            In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping

c)            Experience on budgeting and risk management

d)            Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models

e)            Proficiency in accounting software

f)             Solid analytical and decision-making skills

g)            Knowledge in complex modelling and analysis

h)            Knowledge of financial systems and procedures

i)             Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles

j)             Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulation
