Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities of the Executive

The following list of duties is not exhaustive and the Executive shall undertake such additional duties
as may from time to time be assigned to him by the CEO/GM or the Board (providing that such duties,
in the reasonable opinion of the CEO / GM or the Board, are commensurate with the Executive’s
position and seniority):-

General Responsibilities

Operations
  •  Ensuring company has robust financial internal controls across all business cycles 
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
  • Manage the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments 
  • Key part of the team steering new business development and products
  • Oversee the financial operations of the company, its branches & subsidiaries
  • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
  • Oversee the company's detailed transaction processing systems and MIS
  • Implement operational best practices
  •  Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package 
  •  Supervise acquisition diligence processes including assisting where required, with negotiating acquisitions 
  • Ability to recommend impactful bottom line operational changes to the portfolio investment company’s processes with a focus on continual improvement and lean manufacturing principles, where applicable and implementation of processes to improve quality, production, efficiency and cost 
  • Supporting the company’s sales & marketing team in providing a good back-end by ensuring product marketers have a good cost base for determining Route To Market (RTM) for the company’s products; Possess a good understanding of how manufacturing links to markets and how markets directly influence manufacturing decisions; A good understanding of pull & push market workings; Ability to read market dynamics, market research reports including participation in market field visits and customer visits during market monitoring visits in order to gain a good understanding of how the products brands can be supported by the company manufacturing team. 
  •  Ensuring store front office operations work efficiently including integration into main accounting system; timely cash banking and daily sales, stock/ cash reconciliations; Accounting for product write-offs / return etc 
Financial Information

  • Oversee the monthly, annual preparation of financial information in accordance with Local GAAP and IFRS for international investors for Company / Group of Companies 
  •  Oversee costing / price build ups; part of steering team to determine correct product mix and profitability for existing and new developed products 
  • Identifying operational efficiencies for implementation including cost savings, where applicable 
  • Personally review and approve all financial reports and statements for issue 
  • Report financial results to the Funders, the Board of Directors, CEO and Senior Management Committee 
  • Formulation of and monitoring of corporate performance dashboards & KPIs including prescribed 
Fund dashboards

Funding

  • Monitor daily, weekly, monthly and annual cash flow requirements and cash forecasts
  •  Management of cash collections from customers and ensuring credit extensions to customers are according to company policy and meet financial criteria which supports the company’s strategy 
  • Arrange for correct structuring of long- term capital and working capital financing requirements 
  • Manage the investment of excessive cash balances and recommend to the Board, the best approach to maximize returns 
  • Manage dividend and interest payments to Funders and investors including interest on loans from commercial banks or other lines of credit 
Governance & Risk Management

  • Facilitator of Board meetings; proceedings at the Board and recording of proceedings
  • Sounding Board to the CEO including providing financial and regulatory counsel 
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile 
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry 
  •  Construct and monitor reliability of internal control systems ensuring company assets are safeguarded including implementation of preventive and detective controls 
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage of company assets including required public liability insurance 
  •  Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements in relation to Local Companies Act; Tax Regulations; Ethiopia Investment Regulations 
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of the regulatory agencies and the auditors 
  • Report risk issues to the Board of directors and Funders 
Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
  • Ensuring capital/ dividend/interest repatriations to foreign funders / investors are in compliance with In-country Investment Regulations and other prescribed country regulations 
Third Parties

  • Assist operational management with negotiations with key customers & suppliers
  • Maintain banking relationships 
  • Represent the company where required and as designated by the CEO/GM or the Board, in dealings with investment bankers, investors and other business parties 
  • As part of the executive team, use existing or develop new networks to court new business where possible 
Candidate Profile
The candidate should possess the following pre-requisites:

• Honours’ Degree in Accounting from reputable higher education institution
• Professional Accounting Qualification – CA; ACCA; MBA is an added advantage
• Strong Accounting & Finance Background with very strong reporting capabilities
• Strong understanding of accounting processing systems including Management Information  Systems (MIS) implementation capabilities 
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Word & Powerpoint
• Extensive multinational manufacturing and supply chain experience, including multi-location  operations with 5 or more years of experience; 
• A good and sound knowledge of supply and logistics;
• Significant exposure to complex production operations within the food or agro- processing  industry; knowledge of lean manufacturing, quality operating systems and costing. Exposure  to fresh/cold supply chains and/or short shelf life product cycles, required; Experience leading and advising teams through change and execution; 
• Strong communication skills, an easy personality and the ability to influence stakeholders;
• Commercially and financially astute and has a deep understanding of what drives investment  returns; 
• Strong people management skills including ability to lead, work in a team
• Solutions driven including capability to innovate in relation to problem solving
