Reports To: Chief Accountant


The Financial Accountant is a member of the Finance Department with direct reporting line to the Chief Accountant. The Financial accountant shall manage day to day recording of accounting transactions accurately, management of the company Trial Balance, preparation of monthly management GL account reconciliations (Balance sheet schedules), preparations and management of company Tax and regulatory transactions and it’s reporting as per the tax and Central Bank regulations. To develop and implement sustainable efficient information management strategy that facilitates quality and timely business  decision making, devising planning and performance management systems, compliance with company and group finance policy, providing expertise in financial reporting and control to assist management in the formulation and implementation of FINCA Tanzania’s strategy.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-

a)      Overseeing the accounting activities of the company at head office and across all branches and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

b)      Develop procedures and prepare financial statements for the monthly accounting cycles of FINCA Tanzania for use by the bank’s management, regulatory authorities, and external auditors.

c)      Preparation of all weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual regulatory report (Financial statements) and ensure compliance with the Central Bank, BoT regulations, IAS and IFRS.

d)     Review of all accounting transactions

e)      Monitor reconciliations between accounting systems and ensure proper trade bookings.

f)       Manage costs within the finance department in line with the Accounting policies and procedure.

g)      Prepare, review and make sure that the Payroll entries are being properly accounted for and correctly posted into the core banking system.

h)      Preparation, reconciliations and reviewing company’s Fixed Asset Register.

i)        Reconciliations of intercompany accounts

j)        Reviewing all Bank reconciliation reports.

k)      Manage the company statutory obligations (WHT, P.A.Y.E, SDL, VAT, N.S.S.F /PPF, Tax estimate etc.)

l)        Reviewing Balance sheet analysis (Account reconciliation) schedules on monthly basis.

m)    Finance IT capacity to support systems implementation and information needs. In collaboration with IT team to improve and develop core banking system to organize loan portfolio data, impairments, interest accrual and client data to a more efficiently, reducing turnaround time on important transactions while increasing accuracy.

n)      Participate in the preparation of Company Budget, monitoring and control the actual against budget.

o)      Assist in preparations and review of the company strategic plans and constantly advise management on the plans.

p)      Preparation of financial projections, controls and monitor all the company’s products in line with the accounting policies and procedure.

q)      Preparation of monthly and analyze Branch profitability reports (Income & expenditure), advice loss making branches and follow up on the strategies to improve them to profitable branches.

r)       Preparation of management reports as required by Finca Tanzania management, and Group reporting pack as per the group criteria, Board, external parties

Education and/or Experience                                                         

A university degree preferably in Commerce and Accounting (B.Com) or equivalent.

The candidate must hold a CPA/ACCA or equivalent qualification.

The candidate must have at least 3 years working experience in a similar accounting, supervisory role is an added advantage.


Language Skills                                                        

Ability to read and interpret financial statements and come up with Quick Solution.

The candidate must possess good report writing and analytical skills.


Computer Skills                                                        

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office packages specifically spreadsheet, Word Processing software, PowerPoint and computerized accounting packages


Other Skills and Abilities                          

Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
