Role Purpose

The job holder will be responsible for conducting risk assessment, preparation of annual audit plan, business process reviews and promoting risk management and compliance culture within the organization through effective stakeholder engagement and support in addressing audit exceptions. He/she analyses the reliability and integrity of operational and financial information, internal control systems, efficiency and effectiveness of operations, compliance with laws, regulations, policies and safeguarding of assets

The post holder will report to the board functionally, the chief executive officer administratively and will be work in liaison with the Head of Internal Audit East and West Africa.

Responsibilities:

 Development and implementation of risk based annual audit plan in consultation with the Regional Head of Audit for East and West Africa and management.

 Performing detailed strategic, financial, operational and compliance audits and preparation of timely reports in line with the audit work plan.

 Perform audit assignments from planning, fieldwork, and reporting and prepare working papers in accordance with IIA standards and Letshego Tanzania Audit Charter and Methodology.

 Evaluate the adequacy of process design and the effectiveness of controls in meeting business and control objectives.

 Identify and document control and process weakness and provide evidential support for findings which are agreed with management.

 Propose practical and value added recommendations to address control weaknesses and /or process inefficiencies identified.

 Prepare quarterly summaries of key audit findings and present to the board of directors.

 Carry out ad hoc and non-routine audit assignments and investigations as may be assigned by management in consultation with Regional Head of Audit and Group Head of Audit.

 Follow up on implementation of audit recommendations and onward reporting of closure status.

 Update the Head of Internal Audit East and West Africa on the control environment on monthly basis.

 Carry out Regional Audit assignments when called upon.

 Contribute to continuous improvement in internal audit processes

Qualifications and experience

 Minimum three years’ experience in banking or other financial institutions in the areas for audit/risk management.

 Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or accounting from a recognized University.

 Professional qualifications CPA/ACCA/CIA

 CIA OR CISA will be an added advantage

 Professional experience in audit in a financial institution /audit firm

 Proven skills in the area of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) lending

 Appreciation of IFRS 9.

 Proficiency with CAAT tools like IDEA or ACL.
