The ideal candidate for this post is skilled in networking within government or semi-government bodies. The main responsibilities in this role will be to represent VSO Tanzania in the NCoNGO (National Council of Non-Governmental Organisations), and to support them in structuring processes, strategic planning, budgeting and strategy implementation. Next to this, you will be interpreting and reviewing relevant policies, evaluating options and making recommendations for new policies. Extra tasks might consist of proactively participating in organising topical policy dialogues with sectoral stakeholders, donors and/or the government. If you have excellent skills in reviewing current policies and advising and providing support to improve processes and planning, this is your job!
Skills, qualifications and experience required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in development studies, political sciences, public management or other related subjects;
In-depth knowledge of Tanzanian development sector and governance mechanisms;
Strong communication, documentation, report writing and presentation skills including excellent written and spoken English;
Experience with ongoing advocacy initiatives in different development sectors in Tanzania or other developing countries.

Allowance and accommodation
All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.
VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
