Job Description

Reporting to: Deputy Chief Executive Officer


The incumbent shall be responsible for providing assistance to DCEO on day to day business of the organization, overseeing the overall Dar es Salaam office operations, assisting DCEO with the innovation and business development unit, planning and modernization activities and also assisting DCEO in risk management, monitoring and evaluation activities.


1.   Manage program resource allocation and assurance to quality.

2.   Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines including managing the budget, tracking if team expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.

3.   Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones

4.   Ensure that program activities move according to predetermined schedule.

5.   Monitor the progress of the program activities on a regular basis and hold regular meetings with different stakeholders.

6.   Coordinate REDESO branches on behalf of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

7.   Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews

8.   Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership

9.   Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders

10.  Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues

11.  Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, and key stakeholders

12.  Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas

13.  Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards

14.  Other duties as assigned



The candidate must possess Masters in Business Administration or Social Science from reputable university of equivalent qualifications form a recognized University.


1.      At least five (5) years extensive and successful experience in project planning management, humanitarian and development programmes.

2.      Handling donor funded projects in particular UN Agency and other Development Agencies.

3.      Must have an experience of working at the senior level with minimum supervision.

4.      Candidate must also possess a high degree of honesty, integrity, visionary leadership, professionalism, responsiveness, Respect, Team Work spirit and volunteerism.

5.      Able to establish and maintain relationship with key people both internally and externally.

6.      Ability to manage a highly complex portfolio and deliver a wide range of objectives within the time available.

7.      Procurement and Contract Management Skills, personal energy and resilience and ability to think strategically without losing touch with day today service delivery

8.      MS Office applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, Spread sheets and other Statistical software
